As part of a driving simulator application for Doron Precision Systems, Pixela Labs was tasked with building a realistic, navigable section of Syracuse, NY. The goal was not a full digital twin, but a visually and functionally accurate layout that aligned with real-world terrain, infrastructure, and performance demands. The simulation had to run at 90+ FPS on triple-monitor setups, with high-quality level visual fidelity.

Scope of work

The project required recreating an urban and suburban zone roughly 4x5 km, focusing on terrain, highways, interchanges, and city layout. No 3D input data was provided — only GIS coordinates, LiDAR data, and online map references. This meant everything had to be modeled from scratch: roads, tunnels, bridges, buildings, and natural elements.
A key constraint was the performance requirement: ultra-smooth rendering at high frame rates while maintaining geographic accuracy and scene complexity.
