To manage such large-scale projects, RCCL invests heavily in virtual tools that allow them to visualize, evaluate, and collaborate on ship designs long before physical construction begins. The project’s biggest challenge was the volume and fragmentation of incoming data. Architectural, engineering, and interior design files arrived in multiple formats (IFC, Revit, DWG, OBJ, and sketch-based non-structured geometry), often incomplete or in-progress. At the same time, architects frequently made design changes that needed to be reflected in VR scenes as quickly as possible. This required a reliable pipeline, advanced optimization techniques, and automation tools for rapid turnaround.
